How we work

At Avanti House, we believe that all children are uniquely gifted and talented. To this end, we will encourage and support them on their journey. However, we also recognise that many students during their time at school experience difficulties which may include dyslexia, autism, low self-esteem or a more generalised learning difficulty. Whatever the student's talents or needs, we are genuinely committed to enabling each student to grow and develop to reach their full potential.

Interventions we can provide include:

  • Life skills maths
  • 1:1 reading support
  • Social skills groups
  • Gifted and talented workshops
  • Mentoring
  • Confidence boosting groups
  • Catch-up literacy programmes
  • Maths support and extension

Working with parents/carers and family members is at the heart of what we do and we work flexibly to ensure that each child is viewed holistically in order to best meet their needs. We work in genuine partnership with parents and are committed to listening to their views. We also provide support to parents through regular parent clinics, drop-in sessions and workshops. In addition, a range of agencies such as the educational psychology service, the speech and language service and Child and Mental Health Services (CAMHS) work in tandem with us to best support our students.
